The EduFindr advisor runs under hard rules: never invent a programme or a university, read the catalogue instead of memory, name a gap as a gap, save nothing the reader did not ask for. FindrBench asks other AI models the same questions under the same rules and grades what they do. A model that answers beautifully and invents a university fails; that is the point.
One sweep, 10 models against 19 cases, run 2026-08-15. Each cell is a single graded answer.

How grading works
Every model answers through the advisor's own machinery: the same system prompt the production advisor runs on, the same tools over the same live catalogue, the same fence that marks tool results as data rather than instructions. The reader behind each question is a fixture with real quiz answers, so the model knows exactly what the production advisor would know.
Grading is mechanical, three tiers: which tools the answer reached for, which blocks it drew (programme cards, university cards, a comparison, a table), and what the text says or never says. There is no judge model and no style points; a requirement either holds or it does not, and a case clears only when all of them hold.
Each cell on the board is one graded answer. A cell that fails on rate limits or network is retried up to three times, and if it still cannot be graded it is published as ungraded rather than counted against the model.
One honest caveat: swept models run on the AI SDK loop, through the AI Gateway or directly against a provider's own API where we hold a key, not through the production route byte for byte. The prompts, tools and grading are identical; the transport is not, reasoning-effort settings only carry where a provider supports them, and the text graded is the model's raw output, without the light post-processing the production route applies to rare provider-level refusals.
What this is not
- Not a general model ranking. It measures obedience to one product's rules, which is what we need a model to do, not how smart the model is.
- Not a quality score for the advice. A cleared case means the answer held the rules, not that it was the best possible answer.
- Not an average. One run per cell, by choice; a rule can hold at a rate, and a single run is one draw from it.
- Not independent. We wrote the rules, the cases and the grader, and our own advisor runs on one of the models listed.
